Danny Gotlieb

RobynGreetings to you all,

My name is Danny Gotlieb and I hale from the Lower North Island from Lower Hutt City, where I have been a resident for the past 35 years.

My background is nearly Twenty Years in the Joinery Production Industry.

I current work as a Contracts Coordinator for one of New Zealand’s leading Commercial Security & Fire Door Manufacturers based in Lower Hutt.

My interest in dog sport started back in 1992 with the introduction to the sport of dog obedience with my partners Labrador Cross (Tessa), initially it was my partner that decided to train at the local club of Avalon Canine Obedience Club to do some basic obedience training for the family pet, how things progressed that I was to end up competing in the Obedience ring with a handed down dog whilst my Wife purchased our second dog our first Sheltie to compete with.

After a few years of successful obedience competition Agility seemed like another sport that was attracting people from the obedience circles and I decided to give it a go. My Labrador proved to be a stubborn dog to compete with and after a few frustrating years I decided try my luck with a new addition, my own Sheltie called Tyla (Ty Canyol of Glenfox ADX Gold) whom I successfully trained with the help of Zone Three Dog Agility Club. What a delight this boy was to compete with in both the Agility and Obedience circles and I have had great success into Senior Level with him gaining ADX Gold and Senior challenges, I have just retired him at 11 years of age much to his disgust. Our third Sheltie Tui (Glenfox Simply Magic) is competing in the arena at present with reasonable success at Novice Level.

I am currently a member of the Upper Hutt Dog Training Club and enjoy numerous shows with my extended family and the addition of our two children who enjoy the agility scene also.

I guess the thought of becoming a judge came from wanting to give back something to the sport that has been good to me, I really enjoy the friendships that I have made through contacts in the dog world and I look forward to seeing some superbly trained dogs competing in shows that I have been privileged enough to judge for.

Agility is a great sport to compete in and Judge as well and I look forward to meeting many more fellow competitors out on there on the field

Regards
